It is sponsored by the Information Resource Center of the American Embassy, and located on the campus of the Lao-American College in Vientiane , Lao, P.D.R. The Lao-American Center staff, equipped with books, magazines, on-line databases, and other materials, can provide information about American people and culture, history and society, government and politics, economics and trade, foreign affairs and defense, literature and performing arts, and education and language. The Lao-American Center also has information on issues of global concern, such as narcotics trafficking, protection of the environment, and terrorism. The Lao-American Center is open to the general public free of charge and welcomes visits by government officials, academics, journalists, students, and others interested in information about the United States. Research/Reference Service Information provided upon request about U.S. society and foreign policy via phone calls, fax, mail, and e-mail. Visits can be arranged by appointment. SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) Members of the Lao- American Center can sign up to receive materials (journal articles and online information) on topics related to their professional interests by e-mail or fax.
