Director's Statement

Our special focus is assisting students to develop many skills and abilities, so that they can more fully realize their potential. Both coursework and student activities are designed to promote achievement of problem-solving skills and creative thinking skills needed in the new economy of our rapidly changing world. LAC emphasizes the social dimensions of learning, the teamwork of both theory and practice that it involves, both participatory and experiential, that are needed to encourage individual responsibility and performance in its students.

Study tours and visits to companies and organizations, implementing the concept of students helping each other through supervised cadet teacher programs, the info technology and student research projects, and other student projects currently being developed, are reinforcements of classroom learning. Teamwork concepts are also enhanced through team sports and social activities.

LAC is constantly creating and enriching its course offerings in response to student needs. Students may enroll in morning, afternoon, or evening programs, according to their workplace schedules or living arrangements. Some students may select a "double major," participating in programs in two sessions.
