ProfileLAC Football Team
LAC is committed to maintaining itself as a place where activities such as sports (Football) are encouraged. In 1997, a team of LAC students and staff was established under the name of the LAC Tigers. The Tigers had many friendly matches with the teams of various business organizations within the capital and promoted competition in other provinces. With the expansion of the college and increased public interests, in the year 2002 a new revitalized LAC football team headed by the national coach Mr. Souphalak Linthakan had its most successful campaign since its establishment. The successful season captivated the public eyes with the entry into the Anti-AIDS Sporting Competition (February), the second VXP Cup (June - July), and most of all, the entry of the newly established team in the Division B of National Football Federation Cup. The team then rounded off the year by participating in the Private School Association Cup where they manage to take the inaugural third place. The successful campaign year of 2002 - 2003 sees the LAC Football Club, recognized for its results and competitiveness, being promoted to the top of National League or more commonly known as the Lao League, A Division. Profile LAC Football Coach Khamsay ChanthavongThe one time Olympic Qualifying Round, ASEAN Cup, 3 times SEA game, 4 times Tiger Cup, national football player since 1993, Mr. Khamsay Chanthavong is turning his experience as a player to a coach, which he has received license C and B. In the year 2000, he took the under 14 Lao Football Team and participated in a competition at Udon Thani , Thailand . Two years later in Bangkok , Thailand , the under 14 Team created history by winning the competition for the first time in the Lao football history. In 2003, he lead the under 12 team to Japan where the team was able to finish ninth on the podium out of the 35 participating teams. Other than coaching the junior teams, Mr. Khamsay was also the coach of the National Bank in the A Division of the Lao league where in 2000 took the National Trophy. The team he led also won the 23 rd Anniversary of Sports' football competition, the 2001 National Day Cup and second placing of the National League in the same year. The Lao-American Football Club is proud to have a talented coach and leader to provide guidance to the youngsters of our team. In the first outing as the LAC Football Club's coach, Mr. Khamsay led the team to victory in the 55 th anniversary of Lao revolutionary army on the 19 of January beating the Army Football Team in a penalty shootout.
